Can you say OO-RAH?

Louisville Elks Lodge donated $400.00 to the Senecca High School Marine Corps JROTC Program.  This donation helped the Cadets honor our Veterans, celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday, and contributed to the Awards/Promotion Ceremony and the Military Ball.  Elks were involved not only by donating money but assisting in serving our Veterans and chaperoning the Ball.

THE STORY OF
CHARLIES RIDE
Tracee and TJ Swan started this ride nine years ago for a young man 15 years old named Charley, who had bone cancer. They went to a local bar and grill to ask a friend, Butch Ernspiker, if they would be interested in hosting an event. Jimmy and Ritchie's Bar and Grill said they would be delighted to help. This is how the fund raiser began. That first year we were able to raise $5,800 to help out Charley’s family. We had about 20 motorcycles that year, and very proud of each and every one of them. That evening, after the ride, Butch, Ritchie and a few others were already talking about the next year. This annual event has grown each and every year. By the third year, the ride was written about in a national publication magazine, IN THE WIND, and it is the only ride we know of from Louisville that has received this national attention. Charley’s Ride has helped many families during difficult  financial times dealing with cancer. After five years of helping others, Tracee and TJ found themselves fighting the horrible disease of breast cancer. So while Tracee fought her cancer, we took a year off. But as we always believed, year seven we came back and the ride was on! Charley's’ Ride has raised as much as $24,000 in a single event. This year was our eighth, and we joined with the Lyndon Elks Lodge #2052. We are happy to announce that we raised a gross of around $17,500, and after all expenses, we made a donation to the Lodge of $13,823.25. This was divided equally between our two recipients, Augie Jones and Gwen Whitaker.

To the Lyndon Elks Lodge and all who participated this year, we say THANK YOU…

On April 18, 1906, the great San Francisco earthquake took place and the B.P.O.E. beat the U.S. government in setting up a tent city for the refugees.

We have been helping people for a long time!
