The Ashland Elks Lodge continued its tradition of serving Thanksgiving dinner to all comers in 2018. For the past 30 years, the lodge has served a Thanksgiving meal not only to anyone who showed up at the lodge, but also to those who call in and ask for a meal to be delivered to them.
Over 125 volunteers banded together to serve over 400 meals to those who came to eat at the lodge, as well as over 1300 meals that were delivered or carried out. All in all, the lodge fed 1,781 members of the community this year, a new record for this event. That many meals required volunteers to prepare over 1,000 pounds of turkey! Those volunteers included Elk members, their families, and community members who just wanted to pitch in and help out.
The lodge plans to continue this long-standing tradition next year.
