This past Saturday, Winchester Elks Lodge #2816 served up a hearty breakfast to the community to help raise money for the Beacon of Hope homeless shelter. The Winchester shelter has no source of funding, so it relies on donations to keep the doors open and continue its mission. Michelle Bradford, director and founder of the shelter, said that, “It takes $6,000 a month just to keep our doors open. When they do events like this, that helps so much to pay the water, the electric, the rent.”
Don Aldridge, the Exalted Ruler of Winchester Lodge, said that, “Our motto is ‘Elks care and Elks share.’ You have to be a caring person to belong to this organization.
The breakfast raised over $600 for the shelter.
